Hazel was born to a couple that were enslaved and weren't even supposed to be together. They both worked in a cotton field and were enslaved as teenagers. After being abused and made to work insane hours they would get a few hours of sleep only to do it again the next morning. When her mother found out she was pregnant she was hiding it till the end. But after she gave birth, her owners found out, beat the father to death to make a point, and then took Hazel and drowned her infront of her mother and the other slaves to make sure this wouldn't happen again. Unfortunately Hazel wasn't the only infant that was killed or sold by them.
